The Learning Enhancement area members represented our Psychology Department this past weekend at CLASS (Conference for Learning and Academic Student Success). Our session focused on tips for how to put psychological research to learn psychology, and was well attended. I think I can speak for all three of us when I say it was a fulfilling and enjoyable event!
We (the Psych LE area) are starting to build a network for instructors across campus. Today was a huge first step in that direction. We met with four other Instructors from across the Faculty of Arts to brainstorm the beginnings of an instructor network. We agreed on face-to-face and online components, as well as a dual focus on teaching/pedagogy and education/advocacy regarding the instructor role at an administrative level (e.g., with respect to tenure and promotion guidelines). Exciting happenings on the horizon!
The Psychology Learning Enhancement Area welcomes you to our website. As we develop it over the coming months, we will be showcasing who we are and what we do to Enhance Learning in Psychology at UBC, both in and out of the classroom. Feedback and ideas are always welcome; feel free to leave comments below.
